Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
If you have children at home there is a good probability you have seen Frozen 2. My favorite song in this movie is “Into the Unknown.” In this song, Elsa is debating on whether she should stay where she is at, the place she is finally comfortable with herself and her position, or follow this calling and pull into an unknown place in her kingdom.
How many times in life do we find ourselves traveling into the unknown? At times this could be a willingness to follow a dream or calling God has placed on your life. My husband is currently pursuing a calling God has placed on his life to help people. Yet, like Elsa, a willingness to follow a call does not come without some fears. We do not know what we will find when we take those steps into a land never explored before. Will we be successful at our calling or fail miserably?
Other times we may find ourselves traveling into the unknown without our permission or choosing. May 13th started a journey for my husband and me that we never thought we would be on. This is the day our daughter was stillborn. We became part of an unwelcomed club of parents who have lost a child. This is a journey nobody wants to take into the land of whys and questions not answered with days filled with pain and grief over our lost future with Faith. June 5th placed me on the unknown journey of unemployment. Like so many Americans right now, I am faced with the challenge of finding a new job while balancing the fear and uncertainty that unemployment brings to a family and individual.
Joshua was faced with leading the Israelites into the unknown new world of the Promised Land. Before they could move into the land, they had to face some big challenges. In the verse above, God gave Joshua a promise. He was with Joshua wherever he went. Into the lands of the unknown, whether of his choosing or not. We are not alone either! This promise is still for today, even on the days when we feel so alone and do not understand the unknowns we are experiencing the God of angel armies is right next to us. Traveling the roads of the unknown is not easy, some days are hard and others are downright painful and filled with tears. Please know today you are not alone, God keeps His promises. Let Him hold you on the days you cannot stand up due to the hardships of life. He is the God of angel armies and we know the victory is ours in the end.
